Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face!
25th January 2011
Tonight saw the Annual 145th Burns Supper, an event which began in 1993 and is now in its 18th year. Beginning all those years ago as the Cub Burns Supper the event has developed over the years and tonight over 50 Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts celebrated Burns Night (on Burns Night - for the first time in years).
The Haggis was piped in by Assistant Explorer Scout Leader, Gordon Jack, followed by Head Chef, Cub Leader, Lindsay Sharp. Scout Leader, Kenneth Robertson then performed the Address to the Haggis before everyone tucked into their haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by oatcakes and cheese and washed down with Scotland's other national drink Irn-Bru.
Gordon then entertained us with some more tunes on the pipes before a special investiture into the Cub Pack, the first ever at a Burns Supper, followed by a recitation of the famous poem, Tam O'Shanter complete with explanation.
Many thanks to Lindsay Sharp and Colin Lamont, the Chefs for the night. To Thomas Craig, Ross Morton and Kenneth Robertson for setting up the hall and to Colin, Lindsay and Moira Harris and Gillian Caldwell for serving the meal. Finally thanks to our piper, Gordon Jack, for the ceremonial parts of the night. Another great success!
